Exhibitions

The museum holds diverse exhibition activities.

In the exhibition hall the museum holds exhibitions on the history of science and local history, timed to significant dates, exhibition of paintings, graphics and applied works of JINR staff members and their families, children's creative teams of Dubna, as well as exhibitions of artists from other cities, whose life and work are connected with the history of Institute.

May-June 2014 - Interactive exhibition "Hands" (Timiryazev State Biological Museum)

This installation, created for the purpose of an embodiment in an evident form of the main milestones of the Darwinian concept of the origin of a human hand, its most ample opportunities, and also its fundamental differences from monkey hands.

Everything that we deal with in everyday life, without which it could not exist - from elementary tools to computer systems - was created by human hands. How does this "tool" function, of what it constitutes, what is the difference between it and the front limbs of animals - the exhibition tells about it.


February-May 2014 - exhibition "Galileo"

The author - George Stratan, Professor, Chief Researcher LTP JINR (Dubna) and the National Institute of Nuclear Physics and Technology H.Hulubeya (Bucharest), a member of the Scientific Council, organizer of " Galileo-400", exhibited in Germany, England, Italy , Greece, South Africa and Romania, as well as the Moscow Planetarium. Part of the exhibition was represented in the museum.

The exhibition presents posters, astronomical projections, the experiments of Galileo, in the hall the music composed by members of his family and executed on a lute plays.


September - December 2013 - The exhibition devoted to the 100th anniversary since the birth of B.Pontekorvo

100th anniversary of the genius physicist whose name is closely connected with Dubna.

Bruno Pontekorvo is one of the greatest scientists by whom our time is noted. Its scientific heritage is wide and many-sided, it contains outstanding results and ideas, including the Nobel level. He generously shared the talent with colleagues, having laid the foundation and having defined prospects of the development of modern physics.

The exhibition presents the most significant biographical facts of his life and scientific activity.

Viewing of the exhibition is accompanied by conversation and watching a film about Pontekorvo.


April 2012 - The exhibition of the artist and physicist V. Flyagin

V.Flyagin, Dr. Sc. (Phys.-Math.), professor, member of an academic council of the Laboratory of Nuclear Problems. It has more than 177 publications in elementary particle physics, nuclear physics and methodology of physics research published in the Russian and foreign magazines. The main activity is in the range of experiments at accelerators of high energy particles JINR.

World of hobbies - painting and hiking. His watercolors are in private collections in Bulgaria, Georgia, Italy, Russia, Slovakia, France, Switzerland and many others.


2011 - The exhibition "To school students about modern natural sciences"

The exhibition features products of "InterGraphics" - a resident of a special economic zone "Dubna" implementing modern information technology and visualization tools that open up entirely new possibilities in education and popularization of modern science and technology.

Visitors to the exhibition had the opportunity to work with interactive computer systems, illuminating the modern scientific understanding of cosmology, the history of Earth and life on it, play educational computer games.

March-April 2011 - The exhibition "Institute Dubna: beginning. In the depths of the nuclear project. 1946-1950".

It was devoted to the history of the synchrocyclotron and Hydraulic Engineering Laboratory, later renamed the Institute of Nuclear Problems of the USSR - the first of Dubna research organizations on the basis of which Laboratory of Nuclear Problems was later established.

The exhibition presented declassified documents of nuclear project related to the construction of the first of Dubna accelerators, memories and photographs of the works of those years.


December 2010 - January 2011 - The exhibition "History of Ivan'kovo"

It was dedicated to the 50th anniversary since the merger of towns Ivan'kovo and Dubna. Prepared jointly by our museum and Dubna branch of public fund of local history researches and humanitarian initiatives "Heritage".

The exhibition features a variety of materials on the history and local history: archaeological finds and information about archaeological sites, located on the territory of Ivankovo to create a working village and town, old maps of the area, photographs reflecting the village Ivankovo transportation to the new location and the fate of the village of Novo- Ivankovo, photos, and documents on the history of the Church of the Smolensk Icon of the Mother of God; materials for the construction of the Moscow Canal and others.

December 2010 - Personal art exhibition of Galina Shevchenko, a member of the Union of Artists of Russia.

The exhibition was dedicated to the memory of her classmate, the member correspondent of Academy of Sciences of the USSR N.Govorun.


October 2010 - The exhibition, devoted to the 100th anniversary since the birth of M.Mescheryakov

A corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Sciences, an outstanding experimental physicist, a talented organizer, a head of the creation of the first accelerator in Dubna, one of the founders of the city and of the Institute.

The exhibition was prepared on the basis of studies of a large volume of literature and archive data, using personal letters and unique photo images.


July - August 2010 - The exhibition "Dubna. Time. Space. 65 Years of Victory"

The exhibition was organized by Dubna branch of public fund of local history researches and humanitarian initiatives "Heritage" and Dubna International University of Nature, Society and Man and was dedicated to the history of Dubna in the Great Patriotic War.

The exhibition included maps, schemes and aerial photographs of the war years.
