The History of Discoveries - the Authors speak

The museum holds a regular historical and scientific seminar within which a series of lectures "The History of Discoveries - the Authors speak" and "Personalities of the scientific Dubna" are organized. These series of lectures are designed to personalize the history and comprehend contribution of the JINR in the development of world science. What distinguishes the usual lecture about the discovery of the authors from a story of these discoveries? At some point, the lecturers put aside the fact that you can read in the textbooks, and start to talk about their experiences in person.

Currently, work is underway to create memorial rooms directly in JINR laboratories where outstanding scientists worked. In particular, D.Blokhintsev's and M.Mescheryakov's archives are systematized.

The "History of discoveries - the Authors speak" was opened in 2007, in order to collect the history of Dubna discoveries, narrated by the authors.

About the history of discovery of transuranium elements

He made a significant contribution to the development of theoretical foundations of the method of chemical identification and properties of various elements of Mendeleev periodic table, radiochemistry gaseous compounds, theory and practice of thermochromatography and other fast methods of separation elements.

He worked for many years with the eminent physicist B.Pontekorvo. The participants of the seminar received first-hand information about how Bruno worked, about the genesis of his ideas and the history of "neutrino physics".

He told about this amazing particle (neutrino) and its mysteries; about scientists, engaged in the search for answers to questions that arise in connection with the study of the properties of neutrinos; about his colleague and teacher B.Pontekorvo.

About the history of the world's first pulse reactor IBR

October 2010. Speaker: Dr.Sc.(Phys.-Math.) E.Shabalin.

He is well-known engineer, one of the founders of high-current pulsed research reactor IBR-2.

He told the audience about the history of the first unique reactor and accompanied the story with a very interesting computer presentation. At the end of the seminar, participants discussed the history of IBR.

Together with colleagues, he has developed and introduced a fundamentally new method for investigating the scattering of high energy protons on protons at small angles and hydrogen jet target that yielded outstanding scientific results.
