Schoolchildren from Polis Lyceum visited the Museum
On April 16 the museum hosted two groups of pupils from Polis Lyceum. First pupils of elementary classes plunged into a world of science, then it was the turn of pupils of middle and senior classes.
Guys with great interest listened to the lecture about the history of creation of the Joint Institute, its outstanding scientists and basic facilities.
Then there was the acquaintance with main exhibits of the Museum and screening of a documentary film about the history and present of our city "Dubna. The two banks".
And finally, pupils had the opportunity to meet directly with experimental physics. They themselves were able to see in action of different physical laws, taking part in experiments with new exhibits as the "Dead loop" and "Pendulum Maxwell"

"About the participation of JINR in the UN program of Europe air"
The museum in the framework of the popular scientific lectures "Available Science" held another lecture.
March 1, 2014 the museum in the framework of the popular scientific lectures "Available Science" held another lecture, this time on the theme of ecology. Lecturer: M.V.Frontaseva, the Associate Professor, the head of sector of the neutron activation analysis and applied researches of Frank Laboratory of Neutron Physics, JINR, coordinator (from 2014 ) of the International Programme on the air in Europe.
The lecture was devoted to methods of assessment of air pollution with heavy metals and other toxic elements from the data analysis of moss bio-monitors.
People gathered in the museum were of different generations, schoolchildren, students and teachers, physicists from JINR . For most present a great discovery was the fact that mosses are effective traps metals in sediments and aerosol particles.
The lecturer spoke about her work in the International Programme monitoring and evaluating the impact of air pollutants on vegetation UN European Economic Commission. She presented the data on the environmental situation in several European countries and in some regions of our country, including Dubna.
Lecturer told what kind of assistance in the collection of mosses can be provided. It is encouraging that some listeners, including those from Armenia and Belarus expressed their willingness to provide all possible support to these initiatives.

"And yet it moves"
On February 22 the museum held as a part of the popular scientific lectures "Available science" a lecture-discussion for children and their parents about the life and work of the great Italian scientist Galileo Galilei "And yet it moves".
Speaker: George Stratan, Professor, Chief Researcher LTP JINR (Dubna) and Hulubei National Institute of Physics and Nuclear Engineering (Bucharest), a member of the Scientific Council, organizer of " Galileo-400", exhibited in Germany, England, Italy , Greece, South Africa and Romania, as well as the Moscow Planetarium. Part of the exhibition was represented in the museum.
The lecture was devoted to the life and work of the great Italian scientist Galileo Galilei.
The lecture was attended by children aged 7 to 13 years, as well as their parents and grandparents - in total more than 40 people.
The lecturer talked about very exciting astronomical discoveries made by Galileo, about little-known facts of his biography, about the myths and legends associated with his name. Professor talked with the children on equal terms, as well as with his colleagues - to make guys feel completely immersed in the atmosphere of real scientific discussion.
In simple examples children and adults learned how Galileo counted increasing strength of his telescopes. Children looked at the telescope and repeated the experiment of Galileo.

Again schoolchildren in the museum
On February 14 the museum was visited by a group of schoolchildren of the 5th floor of the Gymnasium ¹ 8. Children with a great interest listened to a lecture about the history of the Joint institute, his outstanding scientists and basic installations; got acquainted with the main exhibits of the museum and multimedia educational programs developed by the department Y.Panebratsev (the University Centre).
Children didn't hurry to leave the building of the museum and expressed the desire to visit it again.

"Day of the Gymnasium" in the museum
On January 31 more than 20 pupils of the gymnasium "Harmony" aged from 8 till 16 years, also their parents and teachers visited the museum where for them the extensive program had been prepared.
Pupils of averages and senior classes, teachers and parents heard to a lecture about the Institute and outstanding scientists of Dubna, watched the documentary film about history and present of our city "Dubna. Two coasts", with a great interest examined exhibits of the museum and an interactive exposition about modern natural sciences from the «InterGrafics» company.
Pupils of the elementary grades took an active part in a master class on origami, thoughtfully and vividly answered questions of a scientific and informative quiz, with genuine interest got acquainted with exhibits of the museum, interactive games and programs.
All participants expressed great gratitude to the staff of the museum for such fascinating two-hour immersion to the science world.
